Who is NED??

The NED show visited us at school today.  If your child has come home talking about yo-yo's, then this is the reason why.
NED was actually a lovely lady with amazing talents on the yo-yo.  She was teaching us the importance of ...
  • Never giving up
  • Encouraging others
  • Doing your best

The children were spellbound.

Yo-yo's are available to purchase from the office for the next 5 days. The prices start at $8.00.

A big thank you to the parents who have made the effort to come in for the parent interviews, and to those parents to whom I have had a quick chat.  It is really important that we are able to communicate positively about your child's progress and address any concerns.

For all of us this term our focus is on the retention of all the alphabet letters and sounds and the backwards number sequence of 20-1.

Welcome Back

Hi everyone,
Welcome back for Term 3, the children have settled well back into school life.

Portfolio's went home today, please make sure you complete the "Two Stars and a Wish" for your child for the upcoming term.  Your children have not been at school long, however there is information in the portfolio that will help you to assess their progress at school and give you some ideas about how you can help.

Please make sure you make an appointment for upcoming parent interviews, it is a great opportunity to discuss your child's learning.

It would be great if you could have a look at their letter and sounds to see where their gaps are, this is our priority. Reading and writing really won't kick in until the children have the majority of their letters and sounds.  A handy website is www.starfall.com.

We began printing this week in our books, we are learning how to use...

  • crocodile jaws
  • to start on the dot
  • to write on the line

We also had a look at our new Concept for the term, we will be looking at Cycles...

Yesterday we looked at the days of the week and how they are on a repeating cycle and today we talked about the seasons.  We will be learning more about the seasons and how they affect us, so any chance you get to talk about the weather, what we wear, what we eat, how we feel and how that changes during the seasons will help your child to understand and discuss this concept.
